Efficiency Offers Advantages
LP® TechShield® offers several advantages over other radiant barrier sheathing products, starting with the materials and process used to produce it.
TechShield sheathing is manufactured with a patented incising process that creates vapor channels for moisture to pass through, releasing moisture nearly as fast as standard roof sheathing (see drying chart below). Most other radiant barrier products can trap moisture from early construction exposures that may lead to deterioration of the substrate and surrounding building systems. TechShield radiant barrier sheathing – now with quick drying “breathable” technology for even faster drying under roof.

Manufacturing OSB is a highly efficient process that yields very little waste. More than half of the component wood is from naturally downed trees. Fast-growing and renewable Aspen and Southern Yellow Pine make up the remainder, making it a highly sustainable product. It’s even SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative®) certified.
TechShield contains no added formaldehyde, only what occurs naturally in the wood. In fact, there is less formaldehyde in TechShield than the amount found in traditional sawn lumber. Mowing your lawn produces significantly more formaldehyde (20 parts per billion, or ppb) than TechShield contains (1.5-2 ppb). The product off-gases completely within a week of leaving the manufacturing facility.
In addition, TechShield is one of the few products that doesn’t require California HERS (Home Energy Rating Inspector) inspection, yet earns Title 24 status.

TechShield comes with a beginning-to-end warranty that covers the OSB, aluminum layer and the lamination process, unlike many products with warranties that cover only the individual components. |
