Simple Care and Maintenance

Keeping your LP® WeatherBest® deck looking clean and beautiful is easy. Just follow these tips:

Maintenance Tips

Be sure to wash down your deck on a regular basis. All you need is a garden hose to maintain your deck. Pollutants you may not see — pollen, dust, and dirt and other airborne pollutants — can be easily washed away with a regular spraying.

To scrub off built-up dust and dirt, simply use a common deck cleaner.

Make sure your deck boards are sufficiently gapped or spaced. This will help prevent water from pooling on the surface of your deck and possibly causing discoloration.

Clean debris from the gaps between the boards using a flat tool to ensure proper drainage.

Tips for Spills, Stains and More

Deal with stains quickly. Don't allow them to penetrate the deck's surface or bake under direct sun.

To clean a grease or oil stain, just use any common household-degreasing agent. Keep a splatter guard under your barbecue grill.

Mold and mildew can cause stains. To clean, use a deck cleaner containing sodium hypochlorite.

To remove rust stains or ground-in dirt, use a special cleaner containing phosphoric acid. Be sure to test any cleaner in a small, inconspicuous spot before applying to the entire deck.
