Received Date: April 15, 2002
Test Date: April 25, 2002
Report Date: April 25, 2002
Project No: 8939-111247 Sample Identification: CorrectDeck
Description: CorrectDeck Wood Thermoplastic Composite Lumber
Sample Conditioning: 73.4±4°F and 50±5% R.H. for 24 hrs.
Summary of Test Method: The specimen was tested in accordance to ASTM D6662, Appendix X4. This standard is for assessing the ignitability of thermoplastic composite lumber. The wood-thermoplastic composite lumber is tested as a deck. The ignition source used is 15 pieces of Class C brands (ASTM El 08). This class of brand consist of a piece of dry nonresinous white pine lumber, free of knots and pitch pockets, 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 by 25/32 in. thick with a saw kerf 1/8 in. wide. Brands are ignited according to ASTM EI08 Section 9.4 procedures. Ignited brands are then placed on the 15 predetermined locations on the test specimen (deck). Test is run for 20 minutes time interval during which observation is made as to the ignitability of the decks. Two decks were tested. Each deck was 40 inches wide by 52 inches long. Each deck was constructed by placing plastic lumber decking boards over three, nominal 2- inch by 4-inch wood supports. The board lengths were placed parallel to the 40-inch dimensions. See photographs taken for details of testing. Both test specimens were prepared at Omega Point Laboratories, on April 17, 2002 according the the specified Standards and manufacturers specifications.
Test Criteria: At the termination of the test (20 minutes), the flames shall not extend beyond the length of deck (52 in.) or spread laterally to the width of the deck (40 in.).
Conclusions: Deck materials submitted and described herein PASSED the criteria.
