Installing CorrectDeck Classic

CorrectDeck Classic features a traditional fastener system and offers outstanding performance in a traditional deck board profile. CorrectDeck Classic is fastened using stainless steel trim head screws through the board into the joists below.

Be sure to lay all the boards out on the deck prior to fastening them down. The color consistency of CorrectDeck is very good but the human eye is very discerning. There can be some very minor shading differences from board to board or lot to lot. The direction of the woodgrain embossing can also have a slight effect on the perceived color – choose the look you prefer by pointing all the ‘cathedrals’ in the emboss the same direction or alternating them.

Pre-drill and counter sink for screw head size.

Use quality stainless steel, trim head deck screws, #8 x 21/2" or #9 x 21/2".

We recommended GRK #9 x 21/2" RT.

Headcote® offers #8 x 21/2" trim head screws that are color matched to all CorrectDeck colors.

Side to side gapping should be at least 1/8”. Please refer to our spacing calculator for proper end to end gapping.

CorrectDeck Classic boards can also be used as the starter boards when installing the Channeled decking, giving a finished, rounded edge.

CorrectDeck is very hard. That makes it durable. The trade-off is, it can be a bit more difficult to fasten. Our Classic profile must be screwed down using two fasteners at each joist. To install, we recommend you pre-drill before using high-quality, stainless steel, trim head decking screws (do NOT use galvanized). Use two drills or a quick-change drill and driver set to make the job quicker.
